Abstract:

Tafsir al-Bahr al-Muhit is one of the books of interpretation of the Holy Qur’an, written by Abu Hayyan al-Gharnati, during his stay in Egypt after he was over fifty years old. The book is the most important reference for those who want to understand the aspects of syntax for the words of the Holy Qur’an and the subtleties of its grammatical issues. In his book, Ibn Hayyan talks about the linguistic meanings of vocabulary, mentioning the causes of revelation, the abrogator and the abrogated, and the readings with their direction, and he does not prefer the rhetorical aspect of the Qur’an. In this article, the methodology of this book has been discussed.
